【Celebration of Diversity】Sapporo Rainbow Pride Executive Committee

To continue the parade that has been held in Sapporo since 1996 and to connect its 20-plus years of history while aiming for further progress, this organization was established in 2018.
“Sapporo Rainbow Pride” works to create a society where everyone can live comfortably by eliminating prejudice and discrimination against LGBTQ+ people.
The main event is the “Pride Parade,” where participants walk together through the center of Sapporo. Last year, the event attracted a total of 30,000 people, with 900 participating in the parade, showing the wide reach of their activities.

Many booths line the pedestrian street, making it easy for first-time participants to join in.
Additionally, people dressed in their favorite outfits participate on the day of the event, so you can join in wearing what you like.
Whether you are a first-time participant or not, LGBTQ or otherwise, this festival of diversity brings together people of various sexualities. Please come and experience it at least once!
Who is it recommended for?

Our activities are for everyone, regardless of age, gender, or sexuality.
Why parade through the city?
Because we want many people to know that “there are various ways to express one’s sexuality” and aim for “everyone to live naturally.”
If you are:
- Looking for a pride event in Sapporo
- Wanting to walk through the streets of Sapporo as your true self
then please join the parade!
Additionally, Sapporo Rainbow Pride is also looking for volunteers.
If you want to help eliminate discrimination and prejudice against the LGBTQ+ community or want to be involved in creating a city where everyone can live as themselves, please consider joining us as a volunteer.
What can you do?
At the “Sapporo Rainbow Pride” event venue, the center of Sapporo will be turned into a pedestrian paradise for the event.
On the outdoor stage, there will be musical and dance performances, as well as speeches. Additionally, there will be booths from LGBTQ community organizations and sponsoring companies, as well as food and drink booths to enhance the event.
During the main event, the parade, participants will wear their favorite outfits and costumes. Amidst a festive atmosphere, they will march through the center of Sapporo for about an hour.

Message from the Representative
Race, nationality, gender, occupation, age… The place where you were born, the environment where you live now. People live with various “differences.”
Sometimes these “differences” become barriers, creating disparities and discrimination.
— Whether you are directly affected or not.
— Whether you are a minority or a majority.
Depending on your position, the view you see can change greatly.
Through the Pride Parade, we have shouted, illuminated, and made visible the “silent voices” and each “feeling.”
In a society that is now beginning to change steadily, accepting, respecting, celebrating, and connecting with each other’s “differences” is essential for everyone, including LGBTQ people.
— Changing society through LGBTQ.
— Changing society by standing with various minorities.
Now is the time to “go beyond differences.”
“Differences” are always here. That’s why we want to walk together from this city to beyond those “differences.”
Sapporo Rainbow Pride 2024. Our strong wishes are embodied in this year’s theme and the parade.
