My gender identity is different from last year…is this weird?

Everyone’s sexuality can shift and change. The timing for noticing and changing one’s sexuality is also different for each person.

For example

⚫︎Cases where a person has always thought of herself as a lesbian but realized as an adult that she is transgender.
⚫︎Cases of people who thought they were heterosexual but realized they are bisexual.

This is called sexual fluidity.

Even if one’s sexuality has changed, it does not mean that one’s previous sexuality was “wrong” or that one’s current sexuality is “just a passing fancy.

In a society where the idea of “normal sexuality” is still very strong, LGBTQ+ people can feel pressured to be clear about their sexuality. Many also feel unable to articulate their own sexuality in an environment that lacks information and role models regarding diverse ways of existence.

In the first place, even if someone’s sexuality has changed, it should not be judged by others. It would be nice if we could say, “This is how I perceive my own sexuality now.
